Studio Mixtura & StoneCycling present during DDW2021

This year Studio Mixtura started a new partnership with StoneCycling. Within this collaboration, we created a collection with new surface designs that, as a surface on top of StoneCycling’s WasteBasedBricks® and WasteBasedSlips®, can be used for both façade as interior wall cladding. In order to transform our current economy from a linear one to a circular economy, it is essential to show that waste can and will be the resource of the future, both technically and aesthetically. The WasteBasedGlaze project does exactly this. Showing that waste can be shiny will change the hearts and minds of people and the industry.

How we do it? Collaborating with ABO Global we use metallurgical by-products which usually have a very limited re-utilization. The amounts of these waste streams are significant – millions of tons a year. With these aesthetic colourful glazes, we find an extra value for these types of waste streams. Contributing to a significant increase in the amount of waste we use in each brick, this aligns perfectly with our project goal and mission of StoneCycling to work towards creating beautiful building materials made from 100% waste.
