The project was created during the residency in Portugal at Vista Alegre Atlantis. In this research Studio Mixtura tested local waste streams on applicability in the ceramic industry. So-called „casca d`ostra“ material - contains tones of processed seashells that are thrown back in the seashore. This creates smell in the coastal areas of Lissabon and moreover, the increased amount of organic matter prevents new species to grow. By experimenting and implementing crashed shells „casca d`ostra“ material into glaze recipes 5 colors which naturally reminds the shells colors and textures were achieved.
